DIY Home Automation Tips, Tricks and Tutorials
Android Wear Home Control with AutoApps
Well that didn't take long ;)
I was fortunate enough to spend a day with Android Wear ahead of its launch and immediately took to adapting the wearable to our powerful home automation solution. Special thanks to Nathan Schwermann at OneLouder in Kansas City for giving up his Google I/O Samsung Gear Live for a day.
Lucky me, Android Wear works out of the box with the AutoApps including AutoVera, AutoVoice, and AutoNotification. To pass the voice command back to Android, root access is required with the Xposed Google Search API module enabled. We'll need to wait until launch to seek alternate access to voice commands, but the demonstrated method is obviously ideal.
Notifications with AutoNotification are ready to go and extremely powerful, you can create mini-apps to control anything on your Android device and beyond.
*If you're concerned about the speed, I suggest tasking a look at this video, ua-cam.com/video/xBwtE1tL7cU/v-deo.html, which features more traditional control.

This is the reason why we love Android. Also the fact that this video is 10 years old and still amazing to see.
what's stopping him from world domination?
Random question, what are those things on the wall? Sound absorbers? They look very nice not some cheap foam kind stuff.
امتحان هنوز نکردک ولی من برای کپبایلم فقط میخواهم ولی اگر خانه هم تحت امر باشه چه حالی میده
Wow inspirational.
The only problem is ... I think.... It's not AI so u have to explitcly write out each command
#wayaheadoftime
Far ahead of your time you were. Don't tell Jeff Bezos. He'll probably hire you.
Nice video. You may also want to checkout the review of home automation on my blog at *dennisreviews. com/home-automation-review/* Thanks, Reese.
he has a hidden friend..doing what ever he says..:)!!jus kidding..!a cool 1
how is it done???
That "shutting down". Voice really made me freak out
sounded to me like its from portal
it is
Have this guy make a commercial for Android, and Apple will lose half its value.
awesome
the next day he lost his phone and couldnt switch on any lights at home...
Now there's "Ok Google" everywhere which makes it a hell lot easier!
first world problem solved ...
Teach me !!! I'm in love with this house !
Hello, I'm just wondering how do you chain commands in Tasker? Like "Command1 AND command 2" Thanks :)
Great work mate but your tv is crooked! Ahhhh I couldn't stand it
great
Can you set google now to sound like potaos from portal?
anyone knows which phone he has ? i thougt its an lg g2 or g3 but it has a red led on the bottom so it cant be
only one question ..which phone are you using ?
Honestly It seemed cool at first and thought it was cute the addition of Portal Bot Voice. Maybe cause he is doing it all in succession or something but it just rubbed me the wrong way... I don't honestly find ANY use for it except if you are entertaining someone romantically... "Dim lights and put on the Barry White."
+Thaxorin go back to the 90s then lol ;)
+Thaxorin Actually .. this is a big help for old and disabled people
Looks great. Now put microphones around the house that are always listening to 'ok google" or "Ok jarvis".
I need a pebble.
Looks great, but am I the only one that would love to see some screenshots/examples?
Wow, thats fantastic!!! I will definitively intergrate some of that cool things in my house. Everyone in my house is using Android devices from smartphones and tables to android tv boxes and chromecast, so it should intergrate well.
can you do a short tutorial how to create this User Interface? thanks
Doug Gregory is there a tutorial anywhere describing how to do this? I want to make actionable task bar widget for my thermostat and have no idea how to do it. Thanks!
The google now noise is annoying.
How exactly do you change the image after the notification has been received?
Found out. You need to give the notification an ID and then just push it again with the updated picture
How did you get the Autonotification picture to change based on your Autovera status?
How is it done
so irritating :|
Of all the Home Automation/Control demo videos I've released over the last two years, this one is by far my favorite. Any other Portal fans out there?
Me! 😀 love it!
Yep, here also! I bet, Tristan Curtis, too :D
It's like the future is here.
Cool man! Robert Arifin Dion Satria Dharma watch this
That was fantastic!
Why so big delay?
I think It's possible, but the video is a fake
Oh really? [Portal Turret Edition] Voice-controlled Home Aut…: ua-cam.com/video/pi2mYrLNq5U/v-deo.html Maybe I should get the Jelly School on the line...
Doug Gregory From 0:30
I see, and you're right, it looks slow....but. If you look closely at the light, it changes immediately. The image doesn't change until it receives the off update from Vera, which doesn't happen until the light is at 0, which takes a second or two with dimmable lights. The image changes with the status of light, not because I pushed a button. I hope that clears up why it seems like there is a substantial delay
This video gives you better example of what's going on: AutoVera and AutoNotification: ua-cam.com/video/v6CwjilAAgc/v-deo.html
Doug Gregory OK, I understand and thank for your work
